Minnesota Dept of Health Recommendations for H1N1 Vaccine.
Nov 23, 2009
Who will be recommended to receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine in Minnesota?
Who will be recommended to receive the 2009 H1N1 vaccine in Minnesota?
Because of limited vaccine supply, the state of Minnesota is currently recommending vaccination of the smaller targeted subset of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations, which includes:
- pregnant women,
- persons who live with or provide care for infants aged <6 months,
- health-care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material,
- children 6 months old through 4 years old, and
- children and adolescents aged 5-18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.
We are recommending providers vaccinate the subset above right now.
We will be expanding our recommendations to include the larger ACIP targeted group as soon as sufficient vaccine is available in our state. The larger ACIP targeted group includes:
- pregnant women,
- people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age,
- health care and emergency medical services personnel,
- persons between the ages of 6 months through 24 years of age, and
- people from ages 25 through 64 years who are at higher risk for novel H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
